B. C. Roy Memorial Library
Our Legacy
Library of Indian Institute of Management Calcutta was set up in March 1962 and named as B. C. Roy Memorial Library in the memory of Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy, the first chairman of the institute. The library of the institute is housed in a separate building of carpet area of approximately 30000 sqft. spread over three floors.
This library is considered to be one of the best libraries in Asia in the area of Management Science and Allied Subjects. It acts as the learning resource centre and occupies a unique place in academic and research activities of the Institute. It is a fully automated modern Library and Information Centre which provides current, accurate and authoritative information from print and electronic resources using state-of-the-art technology

Library Facilities
Self Check-in / Check-out
The B. C. Roy Memorial Library has a fully automated self check-in and check-out kiosk conveniently located at the Users’ Assistance Desk for rapid processing.
Study Carrels
32 private study carrels are available exclusively for Research Scholars and Faculty. Distribution is based on availability and decisions by the Competent Authority.
Faculty members and Doctoral students can submit recommendations for new books. The library makes every effort to procure requested academic materials.
Access our extensive digital library resources, databases, and e-journals from anywhere in the world when you are away from the IIMC campus.
Stay updated with the latest academic literature. Newly arrived books and periodicals are prominently displayed at the entrance of the library.
Accessibility Services
We support visually challenged students using Kibo 360 Software. Reading materials can be scanned, converted to audible formats, or transformed into searchable PDFs.
Guidelines & Etiquette
Library Rules
- Please carry the Library card whenever visiting the Library.
- Please produce the Gate Pass at the Security Counter, when you are taking out a library material.
- Please leave the Library 10 minutes before the closing time to help the staff to close the Library on time.
- After consulting a book, please leave the same on the nearby table.
- Please use Group Study Area if you want to study in a group.
- Please dispose of plastic cups, and bottles in the bins.
- Do not smoke inside the library premises. The entire Library building, under the law, is no smoking zone.
- Do not damage any library materials.
- Do not condone if you find anybody is causing damage to library materials. Please report the matter to Users Assistance Desk immediately.
- Do not file books on the shelves. A misplaced book is a lost book.
- Do not talk in the silence zone of the library.
- Do not leave plastic cups or bottles in any place in the library.
- Do not bring any food with a strong odor inside the library.
